Review ➽ Bobbi Brown Corrector

Aloha Mezzamies! In today’s post your about to find out the ins and outs of this proclaimed ‘Holy Grail’ beauty hype. Will it be a hit, or will I be shipping this to the highest ebay bidder? Read my review below to find out my thoughts!

 Corrector, €24 from Brown Thomas

Bobbi Brown’s colour corrector has always been highly regarded as a makeup must-have for tired under-eyes, and a cult beauty favourite overall in the world of beauty buzz. I have natural blue-ness under my eye but I’m always awake for all sorts of unruly hours of the night (my blogger burden to bare, hehe) which doesn’t help at all!

I am willing to try ANYTHING to banish the bags, and I’m always looking for the next best thing in regards to covering them up and money is no object in my search for a natural finish. I was actually surprised how long it took me to pick this up, and after umming & aw-ing for months I purchased it in my local Brown Thomas in Cork. I never really liked it when I tried it on in store, but after all the rave reviews I took a gamble and rushed home to try it. Not to my surprise I didn’t really like it at home either, and it got tossed in the “I’ll deal with you disappointment later” pile.

However, a week later I picked it back up, and started playing around with the application, I knew it was something I was doing wrong with the product! I got mine in the shade ‘Light Peach’ which I thought would suit my surprisingly pale facial skintone. It was a fair shade, similar to the shade of concealer I would use, but with a more salmon tone to it. No.1 thing I found with is product is it doesn’t work at all with a brush! The consistancy is far to dry & stiff to be worked with a brush, so I’d stay clear. No.2 The application is much smoother when the product is warmed on a small area on the back of the hand using friction with the ring finger. I discovered a very small amount of the product is needed (usually whatever’s left on the finger after warming up) to achieve a much brighter under-eye, and the blue tones become almost irradicated completely! No.3 I also realised quite quickly that trying to add more layers for ample coverage makes the product completely lose its effect and become cakey. Even though what is on your application finger is barely visible after being warmed-up, it actually is plenty to cover up & brighten even the most sunken of circles. To complete a flawless under eye, I then apply a liquid concealer to finish off anything the corrector couldn’t, dont expect the corrector to do all the work if you have hard-core under-eye circles like myself.

Overall after battling with this product in the beginning, I actually do love it now. Even though I don’t want to admit it, probably because of my initial disappointment with it I found this corrector a constant in my makeup bag and reach for it almost daily! I feel warmed-up I can sheer it down for days when I don’t apply foundation, and its not so salmon that it appears obvious on my skin.

✔ Good coverage, ✔ Good colour range   ✔ Evens out skin tone   ✔ Compact

✘ Can be difficult to work with, especially when left in a cold room! ✘ Warming up the product is a bit of a faff for a anti-morning drone like me  ✘ Quite a bit of waste

Overall I would recommend the product for anyone looking to even out the skin under the eyes, especially blue/purple tones with a super natural, undetectable finish! The cute packaging with mirror make this totally handbag friendly, and I would go as far as saying its my one ‘desert island’ beauty product if I had to pick!
