Rimmel ‘Apocalips’ £5.99/ €7.95
Aloha mezzamies!? Continuing the beauty buzz I’ve been on, I’ve finally quenched a bit of ‘must get myself some new makeup’ thirst, and convinced myself it is simply not a matter of want, but a matter absolute necessity!
I dont have a whole lot of makeup to start with, most of my collection is taken up with eye-shadow pallets gathering dust, and to be honest I’ve become a bit bored with what I have! However I’m totally partial to a good lippy, and have stopped making excuses not to try some new ones out! When I saw a mention or two of the Rimmel Apocalips (A fabliss liquid lipstick formula, very comparable to Chanel’s Rouge Allure Laque’s which I believe are being discontinued) from the youtube guru-sphere, I knew…I knew as soon as I saw the packaging that this would be an awesome product!
Continuing another great year in Rimmel’s lip-product immensity with the Kate Moss collection- which I ADORE, it’s 2013 successor ‘Apocalips’ has me ouu’ing and ah’ing with every application! It has a spooned doe-foot applicator that dispenses just the right amount of product to coat both lips without having to re-dip, and the packaging itself is really quite beautiful and sleek-feeling. My local boots were pretty low on stock, but with the great 3 for 2 offer I bagged two for myself to try(Luna & Nova) and one for my mum (Celestial).
I was skeptical about Luna as Ive tried to pull off apricot shades before(They would make me look washed out), but after seeing it on Orla (Makeup Over Mind Blog) I couldn’t resist. I also picked Nova, a punchy pink, as I dont have any and thought this girly hue would be a nice change! I absolutely love the consistency of liquid lipsticks, but for some reason I felt they never really caught on much before with the public, well I found this the case during my time at Chanel so I was surprised(but not really) how much people love these already! I actually prefer the Rimmel ones as there a little less glossy (a plus for a non lipgloss wearer like me) but still full of uber-opaque goodness! Usually a shade like luna wouldn’t be opaque enough over my very much pigmented lips but it does so well without even having to but any nasty foundation or concealer on my lips first! All the shades are creamy & velvety soft to wear, and not the slightest bit fussy with the help of the applicator, no hassle and high maintenance around here – no sir! The staying power is pretty decent too, nothing hardcore, but pretty good! I usually top up after about 2 hours or after I eat.
Initially I wasnt going to pick up the red (I have quite a few already) and the other colours available, but I think I’ll have to re-consider as these are my new favourite lip-product, and definitely the most fun with makeup I’ve had in a while! At a price that won’t break the bank, I’d definitely recommend giving these babies a shot before splurging on high-end lip lacquers (lacquers- so faaancy?!). Hope you enjoyed another beauty post from me! I’ve been feeling creative this week, and you know I like to mix my blog up a bit from the norm, so I hope you enjoyed my experimental product pictures!
